The Iranian regime clandestinely hanged six
prisoners in Urumiyah’s central prison on January 30. Additionally,
on the day prior, mullahs’ intelligence conveyed news on
execution of two political prisoners to their families.
Up till now, these executions brought the number of the registered
executions in January to 83. This is while the number of executions in January
2013 was 46 which shows nearly 90%
increase.
In another development, on Tuesday, January 28, henchmen put pressure on
seven political prisoners from Kurdistan in ward 350 of Evin prison to
cooperate with the regime. They were threatened that in case they refuse,
regime’s supreme tribunal would quickly sentence them to death on charges of
Moharebeh and “propaganda against the system” and their sentences would be
carried out.
The steadily growing trend of executions that are employed to amplify the
atmosphere of terror in the society betrays the mullahs’ fright of expansion of
the popular discontent caused by the escalating dimension of suppression and
the catastrophic trend of poverty and unemployment and the destruction of all
economic and production infrastructures throughout the country.
