Political prisoner
Mashallah Haeri who remains in serious condition following heavy ear and nose bleeding,
was transferred to the intensive care unit in a hospital outside the prison and
his life is at risk.
Mashallah (Hamid) Haeri,
62, solely because of the presence of his relatives in Ashraf was arrested and
sentenced to 15 years in prison in December 2009. His brother, Abdollah Haeri,
was wounded in the missile attack on Camp Liberty on February 10, 2013.
Mashallah Haeri suffers from
acute respiratory and heart diseases due to brutal torture and prison’s deteriorating
situation of brutal torture and imprisonment and so far has twice had heart
attacks. But the torturers have denied him medical treatments. Moreover, he had
been taken to hospital for poisoning due to a wrong prescription in the past
months, but was returned to prison without a medical treatment.
At the same time, henchmen
are preventing sending political prisoner Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi, 67, who
has shoulder, arm and head injuries and fracture from falls to hospital, and
have left him with overwhelming pains. Mr. Banazadeh, a reputable businessman
in Tehran, who also suffers from cancer, was arrested in December 2009 solely because
of contacting her daughter in Camp Ashraf and was sentenced to five years in
prison. Three members of his family were executed in the 80s for supporting the
PMOI.
Torturing prisoners to
death by deprivation of treatment and killing them with toxic drugs is a known method
in the clerical regime's prisons. On January 5, Akbar Golipour, 40, died in
Maragheh prison due to deprivation of medical care.
The Iranian resistance calls
on all international and human rights organizations specially Special
Rapporteur of Human Rights in Iran and Special Rapporteurs on Torture and
Arbitrary Arrests to urgently address the situation of ailing political
prisoners particularly Mr. Mashallah Haeri and Mohammad Banazadeh.
