Political prisoner Ahmad Daneshpour’s life in danger due to lack of medical care

According to a statement released by Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran Condition of political prisoner Ahmad Daneshpour Moghaddam, 41, who has colon disease, has sharply deteriorated and his life is now threatened.
Saturday night, January 11, he lost consciousness after an intense convulsion, hit the floor and broke his chin. He was taken to prison’s infirmary and was subsequently transferred to a hospital outside prison, but henchmen quickly returned him back to the prison. His fellow political prisoners had warned in a letter that he might lose his life because of a denial of medical treatment.
Mr. Daneshpour who suffers from acute inflammation of the large intestine and is subject to psychological and physical tortures and deprived of medical treatment and suitable food has lost 40 kilos of his weight due to repeated bleeding of the intestine and its side effects.
In January 2010, Ahmad Daneshpour was arrested together with his wife and parents for their family relationship with PMOI members in Ashraf. He and his father Mr. Mohsen Daneshpour were condemned to death on mullahs’ fabricated charge of Moharebeh (enmity with God). Mr. Mohsen Daneshpour, 72, has acute cardiac and digestive problems and Ahmad’s mother Ms. Motahareh Bahrami, 62, suffers from acute pain of the vertebrae. They are both threatened with being paralyzed due to severity of their medical problems and their old age. Ms. Rayhane Haj Ebrahim Dabbagh, wife to Mr. Ahmad Daneshpour also suffers from acute pain in the legs, vertebrae and digestive system, but is deprived of medical treatment.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all international and human rights bodies, in particular Special Rapporteurs on execution and torture and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran to resort to urgent action to save the life of Mr. Ahmad Daneshpour and secure his free access to medical services.
