Iran: Banning medical treatment for political prisoners on hunger strike to force them to succumb

On Wednesday, 11 December, 6 political prisoners in Karaj’s Ghezelhesar Prison finished their 38th day of hunger strike calling for the abolishment of their death penalty. Based on the remarks of the prison physician, 4 of these political prisoners by the names of Jamsheed and Jahangeer Dehghani, Hamed Ahmadi and Kamal Molai are suffering from internal infections. Political prisoners Seddigh Mohammadi and Seyed Hadi Hosseini are suffering from acute physical and mental problems and Seyed Hadi Hosseini has suffered severe spasms.
Prison officials prevent any treatment and care for the hunger strikers in order to force them to succumb and break their hunger strike. However, the hunger strikers will continue their strike until their execution verdict is abolished.
